All about the Keyboard

The Sixth Row
The long key in the middle is a Space bar.

Pressing the space bar, moves the flashing cursor one space to the left.
This puts spaces between words. Try it.
Type several words with spaces between them:
  1. Use the mouse to place the arrow pointer on the box above.
  2. When the arrow becomes an "I", click the mouse button.
  3. Type one word.
  4. Press the space bar.
  5. Type a second word.
  6. Continue typing words pressing the space bar between each word.
On each end of the row are the Control and Alt keys.

Many programs use Alt and Crtl (Control) keys with the letter keys to do useful functions.

Some of these functions are listed on the righthand side of the EDIT Menu in most programs (for example MS Word)

One of the most useful functions is cut, copy, and paste.

When writing, you can rearrange large amounts of text by copying text from one place and pasting it in another place.
On some modern keyboards you also get these additional keys
The Windows Key which displays the start menu, and
The Menu Key which displays the mouse right button menu. The menu that appears is dependent on the postion of the mouse pointer.
