All about the Keyboard


The Numeric Key Pad
Press NUM LOCK to be sure the keypad is on, a green light turns on above NUM LOCK or somewhere on the keyboard!. To turn the keypad off numbers, press the "Num Lock" a second time.
Symbols of keypad are:
  • + for addition.
  • - for subtraction.
  • / for division.
  • * for multiplication.

To actually use the number pad as a calculator, you must open the calculator on your computer.

  1. Click on the "Start" button.
  2. Move the arrow up to "Programs."
  3. Move the arrow right and up to "Accessories."
  4. Move the arrow right again to "Calculator."
  5. And left Click on "Calculator."
  6. When calculator is open:
    1. Make sure blinking line is in area where calculators display numbers.
    2. Type in some calcutations and hit Enter to calculate the answer.
Also notice that some number keys have the same text (e.g., Home, End, PgUp, PgeDn, Ins, Del) as the keys in the middle section to the left. These keys do those functions when NUM LOCK is not on (i.e., not green).

Also notice green lights for Caps Lock, and Scroll Lock that are lit when these functions are working.
